RESTORATIVE YOGA

This 75-minute class cultivates health and well-being through the practice of a range of techniques including:
- Restorative yoga postures.
- Yoga Nidra.
- Breathing exercises, known as Pranayama.
-Guided meditations and Relaxation.

The practice of Restorative yoga is all about "resting with awareness" slowing down and opening our body through passive stretching.

Drop into a deeply relaxing space by letting go of tension in fully supported and restorative postures. Gain the equilibrium of your body, mind, spirit and allow deep surrender and incredible opening. Postures are held for long periods of time, fully supported by blankets, bolsters and props while practicing centering techniques, breath-work, meditation and guided visualizations. Class is perfect for all levels and those recovering from injuries.

This practice helps to regulate the nervous system, assisting the practitioner to become the observer of the current state of mind, emotions, and physical sensations. A somatic practice that will bring you into a relationship with your body and mind, releasing the sense of "doing" and allowing for more of an experiential approach.

When you take a restorative class, you may hardly move at all, doing just a few postures in the course of an hour. It is a completely different experience than most contemporary yoga.
During the long holds of restorative yoga, the muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It's a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body. Restorative classes are very mellow, making them a good complement to more active practices and an excellent antidote to stress, it's our time to rest and recharge and to find stillness and peace.
You will learn to arrange the necessary props available to you to support your body, the lights may be dimmed with a soft glow of candlelight and soft music played. In some poses, we may even cocoon ourselves in blankets for extra warmth and coziness to evoke a relaxation response.

Yoga Nidra- “yogic sleep,”  a practice that stimulates deep relaxation. In a Yoga Nidra session, your mind is guided through a series of steps that slow it down to the alpha/theta wavelengths.  That state between waking consciousness and deep sleep, simultaneously at rest and completely alert. You will feel completely relaxed but energized.  Class is perfect for all levels and those recovering from injuries.

Please note:

It’s up to the individual to assess whether they’re ready for the class that they’ve chosen. The practice of yoga requires you – the practitioner – to gauge the safety of your practice within your personal physical limitations. Keep in mind that yoga might be challenging at times, but it should never be painful. It’s important to always listen to your body and only work within your personal limitations.

Wear comfortable clothing and allow a light snack 1 hour before practice. Never practice with a full stomach.

Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified health professional before starting or changing any exercise program or making a lifestyle change. This is particularly important if you are overweight, pregnant, nursing, regularly taking medications, or have any existing medical conditions.

Looking forward to starting our new journey at QiFlow for better health and well-being! Catalina
